Eligibility

  • Open to all Cypress Bay students.

  • Participants must pay the $5 fee for food and supplies.

  • Teams can consist of 1 to 3 members. (Team members do not have to present at the initial meeting as long as their fee is paid).

 

Legal & Safety

  • Liability Waiver: By participating in this event, all students and guests agree to release and hold harmless Cypress Bay High School, the School Board of Broward County, the SHPE club, and all event organizers from any and all liability or claims arising from participation.

  • Media Release: By attending, you consent to being photographed or filmed for use in SHPE and Cypress Bay High School promotional materials (social media, website, etc.).

  • Intellectual Property: You own what you build! Participants retain 100% ownership of their projects. By submitting, you grant the organizers a non-exclusive license to feature your project name and demo for promotional purposes.

  • Original Work: To ensure a level playing field, projects must be developed during the designated Hackathon week. You may use open-source libraries or AI, but the core integration and "heavy lifting" must be done by the team during the time of event.

 

Disqualification

The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any team for:

  • Plagiarism or submitting pre-existing work.

  • Failure to pay the $5 participation contribution (used for event food and supplies).
